Creative ideas for high-engagement, consistent in-person community?
Hi everyone, as a solo, single, tech entrepreneur who works remotely and lives as a digital nomad, I go in and out from having consistent community, to feeling isolated. It's a bit ironic because I'm highly social but I need engaged socialization, not loud dance parties (yeah, it's odd I have chosen this lifestyle). I'm tired of all the let's meetup for a drink mixers and want something more engaging and consistent. So I decided, I'll just build it myself - or look for it if I'm overlooking something. In the past, I really thrived with a social co-working space that had lots of events in Brooklyn and when I was in Techstars with a group of highly motivated entrepreneurs from dawn to dusk, sharing ideas, support and holding each other accountable - and before that in acting school, where everyone kind of naturally had house parties every weekend and hung out after class. I'd love to hear your most wonderful, effective, specific ideas...nothing online or how to meet please (I'm covered). Thanks for helping me crowdsource this!
Here are some of the ideas I've heard so far to give you an idea of what I'm looking for, but much more creative would be even better.
-board game night every Friday
-running club
-nature hikes
-meetup for people named Ryan (sadly my name is more rare)
-Manifestation Mondays (6-8 of us met every Monday to share goals and experiences from the week)
-weekly potluck
-tupperware party
-batch cooking club
Here are some bad ideas (in my opinion):
-gym (has anyone really met anyone there ever?)
-Yoga (limited interaction in my view)
-book club (haven't done it but skeptical because I've heard no one reads the book and that would annoy me)
I'm a pretty great community organizer, but I just need cool ideas.
