Find and monitor charging stations for long trips in an EV?


What are the best websites and/or apps to find and monitor current availability of charging stations for longer trips in an electric vehicle?

I would also appreciate any recommendations regarding the best options to improve the overall trip experience, especially related to the differences due to no longer being able to quickly refuel.

After a friend mentioned their difficulties on their first longer trips in their new EV I am concerned that my plan to rent an EV for a long trip may not work out as well as I'd hoped. I look forward to hearing more from those with more experience!
