Frontend developers, what do you think about Optimistic UI?

I'm not a frontend developer, but as a user, I dislike optimistic UI. For the most part, it's OK. My dislike comes about when the assumption that the operation succeeded or even completed is mistaken. I makes me feel uncertain and mistrustful toward the application.
