How do you remove duplicate and unwanted photos from your repository?

I have about 2TB of photos and videos. There are lots of duplicates and many unwanted photos/videos in there. At some point the backup costs will not make sense. Also the media hub will be useful in lying there is no noise, else the motivation to even look is gone. So wanted to check what strategies you all use and see f there are tools I am missing.
