Turing's Twilight – A Date for the Death of Guaranteed Human Authorship

Hello all,

I’d like to propose an initiative to mark a specific date as the moment when generative AI became so advanced that distinguishing between human and AI written text or generated images was no longer easy or even possible.

I’m calling it Turing’s Twilight, but I’m open to other names. The idea is to create awareness around this shift—whether through discussions, events, or a symbolic act like readings of great writers and poets or public quizes like AI or not.

Curious to hear your thoughts. Would this be worth recognising? What date would make sense? Launch of GPT1? GPT3? ChatGPT? What could we do on this date?

Wait, is this supposed to have already happened, in your view? Shouldn't people be reading generated novels, teaching from generated textbooks, optioning generated movie scripts, etc if that were the case?

My version would be that after a YEAR it's revealed. or maybe more. Not, that day 1 it's declared indistinguishable. A full year, un-assisted, interacting at large online in its capacity, in some approximation of a circadian rhythm.
