Does anyone schedule social time with coworkers?

I’ve been thinking about booking time on my coworkers calendars for social calls. I (and many on my team) work remotely, and lately I’ve developed a social itch. I want to know what’s going on with my coworkers beyond their latest PR. Is this asking for trouble?

If you’ve done something similar how did it turn out? If you’ve been on the receiving end of something like this, what did you like and/or not like?

If it's optional and you like the human, sure. Has to be optional, have to respect if they aren't interested, etc. n=1, I share a paycheck provider with someone, friends are optional.

As long as your coworkers can decline the invite without bad feelings, this seems OK. I don't want to spend my work time socializing, personally, because I have work to do. But I also don't want anyone to think that my declining such things is personal in any way.

I used regularly host optional office hours / coffee chats with coworkers. Great time and space to pick each others brains in a casual setting. It was great at the start but overtime there is less to talk about. Definitely worth a try for a month or two.
