How do you get notified of replies to your posts and comments on HN?

I don't. And I really would not want to.

Old school RSS:

  > 10: press F5
  > 20: check responses
  > 30: sleep 10
  > 40: goto 10

https://hnreplies.com/ is an option (although using it means tying an email to your Hacker News username within their database which some people won't want.)

You can also just look at the threads page occasionally.

HN should really have support for this. Even a simple Boolean tab that says whether you have a reply or not (on ANY comment) would be super useful.
