Free Servers for a High School Club in San Jose?

Hey HN,

I'm a big fan of the community here. As a part of my Modern Computing Club at school, we lack a good platform for 24/7 AI tooling. For instance, one of our members (me) is making a Geoguessr AI based upon PIGEON (with some decent results so far, a small 0.13% increase in accuracy, most likely chalked up to a better random dataset). Another one of our members is using Q-Learning for chess. However, one thing I recently learnt about Google Colab is that it specifically prohibits Chess Learning (specifically calling out Chess). This presents a serious problem, as we don't have many resources.

With this being said, I recently got my hands on a bunch of Intel Arc GPUs. Unfortunately, my desktop is broken (i9-9900 cpu is broken for some reason), and even if it worked properly, it barely handles two gpus power. With my current situation, I was hoping if we could get a free server in exchange for giving you access (with free power and decently fast internet). This would really be a big help to us here in Leland High School, and I imagine that since we are near San Francisco, we could get some really awesome things. Thank you for reading my little spiel, and I hope you all a good day.

Regards, Leland Modern Computing Club

Hey, just cuz you're not getting any replies here: Might be worth trying locally too? If you're in the Bay, there's gotta be some local tech company/group/reseller willing to donate a few hundred dollars worth of parts in exchange for a thank-you and a photo op.

When I worked for nonprofits and student groups, we would very commonly approach local businesses with donation requests. Keyword local, as in face-to-face, asking politely with a smile, and making sure to thank them in your outreach materials afterward. Most of the time (as in 90%+), businesses were very happy to have the opportunity to help their local community.

Good luck!
