Recently, I was asked to add "Average cost per 1GB" KPI for S3 buckets in my cost optimization app (I will not advertise it here).
My honest question is, what's a good price per 1GB of S3 storage?
Maximum is 2.7 cents per 1GB (depending on the region). I've got one bucket with SI enabled which has 0.5 cents per GB.
What are your experiences in that area?
I would not "average" the prices, but calculate them exactly because the values are known. This is what I would want to know, because we recently found 30T of normal storage and 50T of archived storage, with vastly different prices. We dealt with the normal storage and passed on the archives for now, the ROI was very different
