Notes and Journal Backup Solutions

I’ve been using emacs orgmode with org-roam for my note taking for over a year now and I want to make sure my 1000+ notes won’t get lost.

Currently, I’m using rsync to a desktop that I’m treating like a server (no passkey auth, cert only), but that computer is going to be repurposed. I’m debating using GitHub (+1 for version control) but my notes contain personal info and contact info which I feel unsure about entrusting to GitHub.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

GitHub isn't backup, moreover, GitHub data needs backup as well. Why not to back up your data with a trusted vendor, for example, Xopero Software?

Put the notes in a cloud folder by a vendor that you trust, like Proton for example?

Why only backup your notes? You don't have any other data you care about?
