Any reason for security researchers to use Open/FreeBSD?
I once read from a blog of a top notch professional security researcher in 360 that some prefer to use BSD. I know that BSD is known for this but I'm wondering, for any security professional here, what's your opinion?
Not unless your security research is in BSD itself. Otherwise I don’t see much point in using it unless you especially like it.
I don’t know what kind of security research you do but personally I use lots of OS’s in virtual machines.
Use it if you like it or if you’re curious. However, Linux is the most popular Unix-like these days and sees much more investment and development.
