How much do you pay/charge for a website homepage design?
Trying to understand the median price for a homepage design.
I just hired a designer from Dribbble to do logo, illustration and homepage. $400 logo, $900 for illustration and $1200 for homepage design. The work was good, but not perfect. Luckily I am an experienced web designer so I am able to work with what I got. The main problem was that the designer I hired was really good at illustrations, but not as experienced with web design. The price worked for me because I used 99 designs as a bench mark for cost, found a designer I liked on Dribbble and his quote was within a couple of hundred dollars of 99 designs.

It depends what work you're doing and for whom you're doing it. This is a pretty good talk about pricing design work [1]. This is also why a lot of companies have a "Contact Us" enterprise pricing. You might have 2 different companies using the same product in the same way but paying a 10x difference. They're doing value based pricing and different companies value different things at different rates.

How long is the piece of string getting the home page? A funded startup? An Abaline taco truck? A freshly minted family dentist? IBM?
