Monumental day with elections in US but no mention of it or Trump

Sure HN is not about 'news' (with many exceptions) but considering all the non consequential things that appear on HN that people find interesting just amazes me that nothing gets upvoted or is submitted about what is happening with the elections. Understand why HN thinks (the collective if you want to call it that) a conversation about politics or current type events is not to be discussed and can evolved downward. But isn't that also a bit of speech restraint and 'we know better'? Did the group write these rules or did HN simply push things in this direction for their own good (ie YC).

Any to anyone (HN admins) that say 'oh it's not getting upvoted that's why' well maybe it's also not getting submitted because people are conditioned to believe as a group that talking about politics is not what is done here under almost all circumstances.

We have an election that causes the country to be in upheaval seems there should be stories here is my point. (And no I am not going to post any)
