Why is looking native important?

I see that some don't like cross-platform UI toolkits because they fail to make the app look native to their respective platforms.

Why don't we just create a UI theme specific to the business. Therefore you keep the same consistency between platforms without having to worry about looking native?

Nobody complains when the UI of a mobile game doesn't look native.

In my case, a non-native-looking UI subconsciously tells me the application is likely to be Electron garbage, that it may not behave as per the platform's conventions (beyond the looks - things like keyboard shortcuts, etc) and that overall corners are likely to have been cut.
