Help Creating a Lobsters' Account


Hi all,

I have been reading lobsters website for a while now and I am quite interested in taking part in their discussions. I have tried obtaining an invite via their IRC but so far I haven't gotten a reply.

Could someone please help me with an invite ? My email is in my profile.

I've tried and failed that too. My conclusion is that they have enough voices on the site to keep it alive so they're not letting in any more people from outside that bubble on purpose.

Same here. Out of about 3 or 4 times I hung out on their IRC, only once I got anyone to respond to me. Had a pleasant chat to someone for a few minutes who then ended it with "Thanks for the chat but I'm not going to give you an invite" and logged off the channel.

I lost interest in lobste.rs at that point, realising that I was falling for the old "Make a club exclusive enough and people will beg to join it" trick.

Although there are some interesting aspects in how the site is run and moderated, compared to HN, at the end of the day, you won't see anything there that hasn't also appeared on here first.
