What's today's equivalent of Bell Labs/Xerox PARC? Are there any in EU?

Some come to mind:

- Google X

- Microsoft Research

- Autodesk Open Innovation

- OpenAI (although an outlier in this list)

I wonder: are there any companies who do long shot, interesting innovation projects in seperated R&D department?

I'd especially be interested which ones are the most exciting in Europe!
