how should I start planning for making a real-life complex website?

I have got a client who wants a fully professionally working e-commerce website with hosting services as well as marketing & SEO. I am ready to take the challenge as I have just graduated and excited but so far I have made college-level or can say small level websites without a lot of server load and hosting services. What should I take care before starting so that I won't realize later and save myself from facing big trouble? And how should I start planning for it? I am much familiar with Django so will go with it only. What else should I consider to learn for such a big project in order to make it less headache later on? Already grateful to you if you can provide any suggestions.

Don't build it from scratch, leverage Shopify or another major vendor who has done a lot of security work on it. You are just asking for a lot of pain if you try and do all that yourself.

Just build it, that’s the only way to answer your question.
