Facebook blocking me from removing posts – GDPR compliant?

So I decided to remove a lot of post I made on facebook recently, and that went smooth using the activity log to locate them all (Comments on news articles mostly). I did this at swooping pace since the new UI in facebook works better than it used to in that regards. However, now I get an error message if I try to delete or post anything and only chat seems to work for me.

My question is wether this is even legal, am I not required to be able to delete my own stuff at whim or?

I tried this (a long time ago) using Greasemonkey, it worked fairly well for tens/hundreds of posts, then I must have triggered some invisible rate-limit which prevented me from continuing.

I don't think I ever tried again, I just started a new fresh account for close family.

Technically, if it's not personally-identifying information they aren't legally required to delete it upon request. This is common, for example HN won't delete your posts if you delete your account.
