Working in Germany, remote from UK (183 days tax rule

I'm currently working in Germany for a German company. Currenly that work is remote and can be done from anywhere.

I'm trying to understand more about the tax rule: "If you are in the country for 183 days or more in any calendar year, or for an average of 90 days in any four-year period, you are deemed to be a tax resident."

I have already worked remotely from the UK for 180 days during the pandemic lockdown. While I am back in Germany now at the request of my employer. I want to continue to work remotely for the Germany company but be located in the UK.

I was wondering if anyone can share insight or considerations on this?

What would actually happen if I went back to the UK and continued to work remotely from there.

Thank you :)

Being a UK tax resident is not necessarily a disaster if you take advantage of the 'remittance basis' and a tax treaty. If you set it up right, you may only need to pay tax on the money you bring into the UK minus the tax you've already paid at home. See https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/remittance-basis-...

There are details and complications, so you definitely need an expert in UK tax for foreigners. I use this firm: https://www.withersworldwide.com/
